Louis Poulsen

In 1958, Poul Henningsen designed the PH 5, in response to the constant changes that manufacturers were introducing in the size and shape of incandescent bulbs, and named it based on the diameter of the main shade of this suspension lamp: 50 centimeters.

In 1958, Poul Henningsen designed the PH Artichoke for Langelinie Pavillonen, a modernist restaurant in Copenhagen, where today this luminaire continues to delight its diners, in addition to being considered an emblem of international design. The distinctive shape and design of this suspension lamp ensures completely glare-free lighting, no matter what angle it is viewed from. This is due to its 72 carefully placed leaves, from which the inspiration for the name of this suspension lamp is also taken.

Poul Henningsen designed the three-screen system in 1925-1926. Together with Louis Poulsen, PH designed the first lamps to use this system for an exhibition in Paris. The collaboration between the two continued until his death in 1967.

Vilhelm Wohlert designed the Wohlert ceiling light in 1959. Louis Poulsen commissioned him to design a ceiling light for rooms of different sizes that was easy to install, maintain and change bulbs.

The collaboration between Louis Poulsen and BIG Ideas began with the development of a suspension lamp for the Tirpitz Museum in Blåvand, a building that BIG had designed for the Varde Museums

Poul Henningsen designed the three-screen system in 1925-1926. Together with Louis Poulsen, PH designed the first lamps to use this system for an exhibition in Paris. He continued working with Louis Poulsen until his death in 1967. Throughout his life, PH sought to create direct, glare-free lighting where it was needed most. Additionally, he used incandescent bulbs as a light source to create soft shadows. The PH 4/3 Suspended Metal was born in 1966
