Louis Poulsen

Keglen is a design by BIG Ideas in collaboration with Louis Poulsen that was released in 2017. The idea was to create a simple but unique lamp with an emphasis on geometry and the essence of light. The collaboration between Louis Poulsen and BIG Ideas began with the development of a suspension lamp for the Tirpitz Museum in Blåvand, a building that BIG had designed for the Varde Museums.

The VL38 table lamp was originally designed in the late 1930s by Vilhelm Lauritzen in partnership with Louis Poulsen for the construction of the Radiohuset building (the Danish broadcasting house) in Copenhagen (today the Royal Danish Academy of Music). Vilhelm Lauritzen’s lamp design, VL38 and the pendant VL45 both designed for Radiohuset, started to appear in Louis Poulsen catalogues after World War 2 in the middle of the 1940s.

Italian-Danish designer duo GamFratesi designed Yuh for Louis Poulsen in 2017. Initially introduced in black and white, the family was expanded with new additions through brass and marble editions. One of the essential features of the lamp is its personality. The light is flexible and takes up little space. It can be rotated, raised or lowered, illuminating and creating an atmosphere in the desired space.

Poul Henningsen designed the three-screen system in 1925-1926. Together with Louis Poulsen, PH designed the first lamps to use this system for an exhibition in Paris. The collaboration between the two continued until his death in 1967. Throughout his life, PH sought to create direct, glare-free lighting in places where it was needed most.

The VL Ring Crown family derives from a lamp designed by architect Vilhelm Lauritzen for the Danish Broadcasting Company building, located in Copenhagen, in the 1940s, where the wall and suspension versions, with their characteristic organic shape, found good use. For this project, Vilhelm Lauritzen also created the VL38 and VL45 lamps. The VL Ring Crown never made an appearance there, but not long after, a Ring Crown based on the original designs was introduced.

The VL Studio family arises from a lamp designed by architect Vilhelm Lauritzen for Radiohuset, the headquarters of the Danish national radio and television company, located in Copenhagen, in the 1940s. The name “Studio” was chosen because some of these lamps were used outside the recording studio to indicate, with a red or green light, whether a live broadcast was taking place.

The NJP series was designed by Oki Sato, founder of the Nendo design studio, with the intention of giving a new interpretation to the classic Anglepoise articulated arm lamp – with all its well-known characteristics – in a current design that would adapt the functions to the Today's way of working, both in the office and at home. The adjustable arms and head of the NJP Wall Light make it exceptionally adjustable, something that most common wall lights do not usually boast of.

The Flindt Wall Light is part of the Flindt series, which brings exceptional lighting and a bold, sculptural design to indoor and outdoor spaces. Based on the same carved design as the bollards, the Flindt Sconce continues the elegant design language in the shape of a perfect circle. The Flindt Wall Light is distinguished by the light outlet at the top that emits light out the front of the fixture, creating a subtle, glowing ring of reflected light at the transition between the concave and convex shapes.
