Fascinated by timeless design, designer Jaume Ramírez is interested in the archetypal table lamp in which a lampshade distributes light in all directions. This is the starting point from which he reflects and experiments to propose a new glass design, with more streamlined shapes. The Fragile lamp is a mix of geometric shapes. A cone and a sphere are arranged to hold a cylinder that emits ambient light from below.

In its form, we find remnants of the past; in the material, we find emotion. The glass not only reveals the light source; it also speaks of purity, lightness and how this design blends in with its surroundings. Its structure seems to stand effortlessly, a very serious feat in which everything is in plain sight. The cylinder shades its warm, diffused and gradual light.

For Lluís Porqueras, designing consisted of eliminating the superfluous until an essential object was left: beautiful, useful and simple. This was the case with the Funiculí, a 1979 lamp that Marset reissued in 2013 and which has become an emblem of the collection.

Lightweight, it takes up almost no space and can function as an ambient lamp or for direct light, depending on how you direct the beam. Its designer released the shade to give maximum mobility. It can rotate through 360 degrees to focus the light where you want and also has a double clamp system for height adjustment. For the Funiculí, forty years are nothing; it has stood the test of time and now comes in new colours that further expand its possibilities. It is no longer only available in the neutrals moss grey, black and off-white.

A lamp in balance. A modern take on the table lamp

The new Gambosa lamp looks like a balanced sculpture in sophisticated colours. Its creator, Mathias Hahn, has provided a modern take on the table lamp, a design that challenges the product’s traditionally static and rigid nature.

A design, made of steel, that simplifies the structural elements of a table lamp (shade, stem and base), joining them together without them apparently being connected. Its curved shade seems to float delicately, adding a dynamic touch, whilst the stem is supported on a flat base, the only element to provide stability. Gambosa is a combination of geometries in balance that interact harmoniously with each other.

However, the beauty of this table lamp doesn’t come solely from its composition; it’s defined by its palette of colours. The shade is available in pale pink or black, opaque versions that provide a direct light, or in opal methacrylate for softer illumination.…

The Ginger collection started out in wood, an almost flat, sober lamp that discreetly lights up spaces with indirect light. Over time a new material was added to the collection: metal; a finish which is lighter, more refined, almost sculptural that provides the same warm light with no glare.

The Ginger collection is now moving outdoors to subtly light any space, with wall sconces that can be installed individually or in a cluster, a smaller version perfect for passageways and small outdoor areas, a lamppost, small floor lamps, and a new wall version with an arm. This latest design is a tribute to the traditional outdoor light casting indirect light downwards. It is available in two sizes – 20 and 32 cm diameter – and in two finishes, black outside and white inside, and rust, a colour that is more attractive when the light is on, more intense, giving an unexpected result.

The serene shapes of the Ihana trace out a silhouette of light. This lighting system consists of several opal blown glass diffusers that are pleasing to the eye, appear ductile and contrast with the firmness of the metal structure that determines its shape and fastens it to the ceiling.

In an effort to offer ambient light for any classic or contemporary interior design project, this collection can be used to create light compositions. This is made possible by its structure, which can be extended to include 14 diffusers, connected to a single point of light. It is available in different sizes to illuminate spaces with high ceilings as well. In addition, the Ihana features dim to warm technology, which allows not only regulating the intensity of the light, but also its colour temperature, which can vary from a warm white (3000K) to an ultra warm white, simulating candle light (1800K).

Through the language of textiles, Joan Gaspar has designed a light of flexible, ductile materials that sifts the light as readily as it moves with the wind. In the Jaima collection, the light is the shade and weaver of emotions.

This new collection takes its name from the Bedouin tents of North Africa, and is inspired by their varied fabrics and forms. The textilene shade is available in three sizes and four different colors, with a blank interior to optimize the quality of the downward light.

The shades can be combined with two versatile stands to make various sizes of adjustable, rotating floor lamps; the fixture can also be affixed directly to the floor or wall, and the shades can be hung independently as pendants.

For designers George Yabu and Glenn Pushelberg, design is about telling stories. This is certainly true in their new Konoha model, a twin-function wall lamp that tells us what types of lighting we need around us and offers all the right possibilities to make them happen. Out of curiosity and analysis, the designers have taken a number of variables into account, especially those linked to our emotions; light is arguably the most intimate element in an environment, so its design must be thoughtful, functional and purposeful.

The Yabu Pushelberg design studio, which is world-renowned for its many hospitality projects, believes that hotel room lighting is often redundant. Every room needs direct and ambient light, which is why they have chosen to include both functions in a single design.

The classic Lab collection is expanding to include two sizes of bollard and a slim wall lamp. These new designs bring a bit of texture and formal simplicity to outdoor spaces. With this wall lamp version, an aluminium structure surrounding the fixture creates an interior space where light and materials interact, with the soft LED lighting playing off sheets of painted metal or dark iroko wood.
