The RFH Terrace Chair was originally designed by Robin Day to complement the outdoor terrace of the Royal Festival Hall in London. Small in proportion and decidedly simple in construction, the Terrace Chair is crafted from a combination of teak slats and a solid steel frame – attributing a distinctive, organic aesthetic.

Originally created to seat visitors in the dining rooms of the Royal Festival Hall, the RFH Armchair by Robin Day is charactericed by the softly curved backrest and outwardly reaching arms. Rich in materiality, the chair’s striking form is achieved through a process of form-press moulding layers of beech and walnut veneer.

The AAC 227 fuses the sleek, elegant aesthetic of the four-legged steel frame with the softness of the upholstered shell. Retaining the fundamental idea shared by the AAC collection, this model is characterised by a curved shell with a slightly higher back. Designed with optimal functionality in mind, the shell construction offers a deep, generous seat that combines inviting aesthetics with a high level of comfort, whilst the lower armrests provide good support and enable the chair to fit underneath a table or desk. 

About An Ottoman is designed as a companion for both versions of About A Lounge Chair, but the footstool has such a strong visual expression that it can easily stand alone as an extra seat.
