Poul Henningsen designed the three-screen system in 1925-1926. Along with Louis Poulsen, PH designed the first light bulbs to use this system for an exhibition in Paris. Collaboration between the two continued until his death in 1967. Throughout his lifetime, he sought to create direct and dim lighting in places where it was most needed. In addition, he used incandescent light bulbs as a light source to create soft shadows. The PH 41⁄2-31 Glass Foot family designed the first lamps to use this system for an exhibition in Paris.
