Poul Henningsen designed the three-screen system in 1925-26. Hand-in-hand with Louis Poulsen, PH designed the first light bulbs that used this system for an exhibition in Paris. The collaboration between the two continued until his death in 1967. Throughout his life, he sought to create direct and non-glare lighting in the places where it was most needed. In addition, he used incandescent light bulbs as a light source to create soft shadows. PH 80 is part of the three-screen family. PH 80 did not simply design a whole lighting system; over the years, a few thousand different models were created. He was the first person to apply an alternative scientific approach to lighting and use his final version of the lighting system.
