A Sculpture of Light
High Line is visually a sculpture of light, a slender line that emits light without revealing where. The new floor lamp by Josep Lluís Xuclà generates indirect light by reflection, with the particularity that it does not bounce against the ceiling but against the wall. Its author is interested in the wall being the one that returns the emitted light, it is his great ally and he needs it close by. Formally it is a composition of volumes and colors. Three blocks that are distinguished by their shapes and tones: the vertical light-bearing element in oak or wenge is attached to a lacquered wooden block and both are erected on the black base. The latter marks the distance where the lamp must be placed, in contact with the wall so that the light is optimal, generating ambient lighting for any space. The sobriety of its forms contrasts with the warmth of the wood and the colors.
