Designed and built originally for the Danish labour movement, the building opened its doors in 1956 and is now used as a concert hall under the name Vega. The building is a gesamtkunstwerk, meaning that Lauritzen designed everything in the building, from the pomos of the doors, stairs and power outlets to the furniture and lamps. The VL56 Suspended is one of the lamps that Vilhelm Lauritzen designed for the Vega and, to date, hangs above the wooden bar next to the concert hall.
