Poul Henningsen designed the three-screen light system in 1925-1926. Along with Louis Poulsen, PH designed the first light bulbs to use this system for an exhibition in Paris. Collaboration between the two continued until his death in 1967. Throughout his life, he sought to create direct lighting without glare in the places where it was most needed. In addition, he used incandescent light bulbs as a light source to create soft shadows. The PH 2/1 Light Suspended form part of the three-screen family, which already has 30 lights, currently included for outdoor use. Therefore, PH did not design a whole light system; over the course of three years, three models were designed to reduce the lower dim light.
