The VL Studio family arises from a lamp designed by the architect Vilhelm Lauritzen for Radiohuset, the headquarters of the Danish national radio broadcasting company, in Copenhagen, in the 1940s. The designation Studio was chosen because some of these lamps were used outside the recording studio to indicate, with a red or green light, whether a live broadcast was being carried out. Vilhelm Lauritzen was the architect responsible for the functionalist style of Radiohuset, inaugurated in 1945. The Radiohuset is a superb light of total luminosity, as is the case with most of the Lauritzen, both of which imply that for this three-dimensional version of the project the architect designed all of the interior and the lighting of the Laohuset.
