Poul Henningsen designed the three-screen lighting system in 1925-1926. Along with Louis Poulsen, PH designed the first lamps to use this system for an exhibition in Paris. Collaboration between the two continued until his death in 1967. Throughout his life, he sought to create direct and non-luminous lighting in the places where it was most needed. In addition, he used incandescent light bulbs as a light source to create soft shadows. The PH 4/3 Sobrem is a member of the three-screen family. However, PH did not design simply one lighting system; over the course of a few years, three different models were created.
