LÁMPARA MVV 45 - MARSET

The history of MVV begins in the 70s. This new suspension lamp is unprecedented, and was designed by Manuel Valls Vergés, one of the most relevant architects of that time in Spain, a partner of Jose Antonio Coderch for 15 years and together with who carried out -among others- such important projects as the Ugalde house near Barcelona. The name of MVV responds to the initials of its name to claim its authorship. This is how his grandson - also an architect - and the collaborators of his Two-bo studio wanted it. Pablo, María and Alberto have rescued this lamp 45 years later. Marset acts as a hinge over time, picks up the original design - an octagon with overlapping sheets - and updates it by providing it with a double skin: cherry wood on the outside of the sheets, and white on the inside to optimize the quality of the light. The original measurements –45 cm– are respected and the internal structure, which was originally made of iron, also becomes polycarbonate so that it is lighter. Using wood as a material, the MVV achieves exceptionally warm lighting. A sober, rational, and eminently geometric lamp that does not stop being like a construction game in which direct down light and indirect light that seeps through its sheets coexist. A design that, despite being timeless, responds to the constructive logic of that moment and brings to mind a large number of memories and references.
