Inspired by the desire to create an ambient light source with a sculptural quality, Danish husband-and-wife designers Viola Heyn-Johnsen and Jonas Trampedach have created the Parade Lamp series. Consisting of a square base and arched top in coloured glass, the geometric shape causes the expression to change depending on whichever angle the lamp is turned. The carefully selected sizes and colours complement each other in height, tone and temperature, creating a cohesive effect that forms an interlinking pattern when multiple lamps are viewed together.

The PH system was developed to bring completely glare-free lighting to homes that was effective and more pleasant at the time when electric lighting began to take over from candle chandeliers and kerosene lamps in the late 1990s. 20 of the last century. Poul Henningsen strove to create glare-free light, direct light where it was needed most and create subtle shadows, using incandescent bulbs as a light source. Henningsen's mathematical vision of lighting, which used the logarithmic spiral, resulted in the development of the three-shade system in 1925-1926 and the following family of products, which over the years has included hundreds of different models, which include everything from floor lamps to table lamps, suspended models, chandeliers and wall lamps.

Poul Henningsen designed the three-screen system in 1925-1926. Together with Louis Poulsen, PH designed the first lamps to use this system for an exhibition in Paris. The collaboration between the two continued until his death in 1967.
